This is of course when taken with exercise as the only way to boost metabolism is to gain muscle or increase your heart rate. Eating oatmeal at night for dinner will only cause you to be bloated. Oatmeal is very healthy, but if you eat too much of it, you will still gain weight.
  • Yogurt – Being one of my favorite’s, yogurt is also a very healthy food, and since it contains live active cultures, it will speed up your metabolism, allowing the weight loss process to be faster. Yogurt is low in calorie and sugar, yet it tastes very delicious. Most people believe that healthy food tastes disgusting, this however, is completely untrue. Yogurt is by far one of the tastiest healthy foods out there, and will definitely help you in satisfying a sweet tooth at times.
  • Vegetables – The reason why your parents always tell you to eat your vegetables is because they’re very healthy. Vegetables are filled with nutrients that can really help you to lose weight. So, add lots of veggies to your daily diet, and you will definitely be able to lose more weight faster.

The words “diet” or “healthy nutrition” have gotten people thinking that they will have to sacrifice taste. This is far from the truth. Choosing what to eat after working out is challenging. As most people know, the exercise is only half the battle. The body uses fuel in different ways during the day, and post workout meals are important for muscle repair and recover. The size, time, and content of a post-workout meal will play an important role in whether the calories eaten will be used as fuel, muscle building, or fat storage.

Ratios Of What To Eat After Working Out

Avoid over-indulging after a workout. Although it’s normal to feel hunger after strenuous exercise, choose a meal carefully. The meal consumed after the workout should equal approximately half of the calories burned during the workout. This number will probably be an approximation, but try to stay within a 50% calorie range while knowing what to eat after working out.

Plan to eat 60% of the calories from carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are needed to replace muscle fuel and to prepare the body for the next exercise session. As a rule of thumb, a moderate exerciser will need about 30-40 grams of carbohydrates while an extreme exerciser should aim for 50-60 grams of carbohydrates.

Protein is also important for a post-meal workout. Protein will keep the body from breaking down muscle tissue for energy and will help to begin repair any muscles damaged during the workout. 25% of the calories eaten should come from protein. An easy way to think about the ratio of carbohydrates to protein is 4:1. Having a bagel with peanut butter, chocolate milk, eggs, 8 oz. of kefir are just a few good things to consider consuming as part of your post workout meal.

After a workout, the body will continue to stay at a higher metabolism level, burning fat for up to half an hour after a workout. The best time to eat a post-workout meal is 30-45 minutes after the workout. This time frame is important because waiting longer than an hour will force the body to enter starvation mode, causing it to break down muscle fibers for fuel. If it will not be possible because of availability to have a meal in that window, try drinking chocolate milk. This is usually easier to find and many gyms stock in specifically in vending machines.

While most nutritional experts agree that both men and women’s post workout meals should be very similar, men are going to need to consume more calories than women. Also, for women, it should be especially important to choose a post workout meal that contains calcium, especially if the workout has contained a weight-bearing activity that cause damage to the skeletal structure.

Why Do Humans Cook Food?

Unless you happen to be a raw food enthusiast, if someone was to ask you what your favourite foods were you’d probably come up with dishes like sausage and mash, black cod, roast beef, a good steak, chips or a proper hamburger. Not many people would choose a salad or a raw piece of meat. However, this situation might be entirely different had one of our distant ancestors not had the genius idea of cooking food for the first time – but when did that happen and why did they do it?

Cooking food goes back around 400,000 years to the very first evidence of controlled use of fire by humans. It’s one of the traits that sets humans apart from animals and has been central to many civilisations, from the Romans and Greeks through to the Saxons and Normans. With the controlled use of fire, important changes began to be made to the way that human beings lived their lives. With the light that fire provided people could stay up after the sun had gone down and the day became longer.

It also allowed people to cook their food, which some scientists believe is responsible for considerable brain expansion in human beings, possibly even the kind of brain development that took us from being just like our ape-like ancestors, to the iPod toting, suit wearing deep thinkers that we all are today.

The argument – put forward by Richard Wrangham of Harvard University – is that by cooking our food we could now absorb more calories because warming things up allowed us to eat the kinds of complex carbohydrates that we couldn’t otherwise have digested. Think about a bowl of brown rice – would you eat it raw? No. But once cooked, it’s a great source of slow release energy that can provide motivation for everything from sport through to taking an exam.  Not everyone agrees with Wrangham, as many scientists believe that human brains began to evolve when we moved away from eating just nuts and berries to eating meat, but it’s an interesting theory nonetheless.

It is likely that the earliest attempts to cook food stemmed from the need to eat more in a world where much of what was available was indigestible to human beings. However, once cooking had begun, the idea of it quickly spread, and by 250,000 bp there is evidence of lots of cooking devices – hearths and earth ovens for example – all over Europe and the Middle East. It is probable that the human digestive system has evolved around a cooked food diet – which has allowed us to eat all kinds of foods that would have given us substantial trouble without being cooked first! There is also evidence that the human body as a whole has evolved through this process – for example human jaws became smaller as there was less of a need for enormous teeth to cope with eating raw meat.

Over the years, many other positives for cooking food have been discovered – for example food lasts longer if you cook it first and it’s possible to avoid food poisoning by cooking food that would make you really quite ill if you ate it raw. But perhaps the best reason of all is the taste – there’s nothing quite like a perfectly cooked steak after all!

Until you have read this….Is the Chocolate Vegan Shakeology just like the Tropical Strawberry Vegan flavor? I’ll be honest with you that when the Tropical Strawberry vegan Shakeology first came out several months ago, I was so excited. I ordered my first monthly supply of the flavor and I was less than 100% pleased because it had a powder taste that took getting used to.

Do I Recommend Chocolate Vegan Shakeology?

Now, if I was to recommend the tropical flavor, I would say that it taste best by itself, without adding anything to it such as juices, extra fruit, ect. I can honestly say that after months of taking this flavor, I am good with it, but not as favorable for me as my ultimate flavor, Chocolate.

I must say that it was amazing!

Shakeology Scam | This Get’s Personal!

Shakeology scam is a FACT – at least for the naysayers being paid to put Shakeology on a negative light.

Let’s set the tone here that I am a human like you and have been skeptical of many products that claim to be the best and don’t follow through with their promises. I have been burned many times before and I was furious because I took it as an attack on my family’s finances. Literally, you don’t want anyone messing with your family’s money, especially from a salesperson that only wants to make a buck for themselves not caring about the benefits of you. So, to be up front here, I am a Beachbody coach and proud of it, but not because I want to sell Shakeology, but because I tried it first and had great results. As a beachbody coach, it allows me to share with other people my personal experiences in hopes that it can help them improve their life as well.

So let’s get this straight right off the bat…..I don’t write reviews about anything that I don’t use myself. Not only do I use the products I write about, but I use them the way they were made to be used to see if they deliver the results they promise.
Shakeology has definitely delivered on it’s promise!

To begin with, I’m not here to give false claims about Shakeology scam. As a matter of fact, I also had some doubts about the product before. However, because P90X was giving me some impressive results when I was starting out, I decided to give Shakeology a try after 30 days of starting my 90 day transformation.

The experience has taught me some valuable lesson in life; I took a risk, went beyond my doubts because I wanted to find something that could improve my inner well being while getting stronger, and it paid off.
