The Relationship Between Vaccines and Autism

A lot of court trials have been made for the claims of parents that their children developed autism after routine vaccination was made. The vaccine industry has been protected for quite a while by VICP or Vaccine Injury Compensation Program but recently they have acknowledged that vaccines can really cause autism. Millions of dollars were released by pharmaceutical companies for the specialized care that the affected children needs all throughout their life.

The children affected with autism were healthy before receiving vaccines. Close relatives and family members testify that they are perfectly healthy but after the vaccines, they had a serious brain encephalopathy and later on have shown signs of autism.

Neuroimmunological mediated dysfunction resulted that arose in the form of asthma and ASD. This has been admitted by the VICP but other details with regards about the case have been kept secret from the people.

The Evidence that Links Vaccines and Autism

Vaccines that contain Thimerosal which is a mercury based preservative has been exposed to cause autism. It has been reported that a young girl developed autism symptoms which includes loss of language skills, eye contact and no response to verbal direction.

Claims also came out that seizure and ADEM or Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis has developed after a young boy received MMR vaccine. These cases were awarded compensation but the court would not admit that the cause was the vaccine that was administered to the children.

The federal Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) has admitted that vaccines cause autism.

These evidences cannot deny the fact that autism can be caused by the vaccines that are administered to these children. At a young age they are really susceptible to disease and their organs are not fully developed yet which puts them into a higher risk. Vaccines and autism has been closely linked as shown by evidence but whether to get your child vaccinated or not it’s still up to you to weigh the pros and cons.

Lose Your Insanity Elite Nutrition Plan?

If you’ve misplaced you nutrition guide, I’ll help you get back on track with the Insanity Elite Nutrition Plan.

First of all, it comes with the program. But over time, sometimes people tend to lose things or things happen in life where they misplace parts of the Insanity package.

In this post, I will help you with what to eat during your 60 days with Insanity. I recently had a reader request to help her with what to eat with Insanity because she moved and her nutrition guide got lost in the process.

With the many requests over time, I thought the best way to help would be to write about it.

The Elite Insanity Nutrition Plan

With Insanity, you are recommended:

1. To eat 5 meals a day

  • Breakfast
  • Mid Morning Snack
  • Lunch
  • Afternoon Snack
  • Dinner

With all Beachbody fitness programs, they always say to never eat sooner than 1 hour before your workout because your body will be in digestion mode. Because of this, you won’t have the energy for the workout.

2. You must Eat every few hours as this keeps your metabolism burning

3. Every week, check you recommended daily calories as this will change as your body changes.

4.  Drink 8-10 cups of water a day to help reduce hunger pangs. For me, I drink double this becasue my body demands it. 8-10 cups is absolute minimum.

With Insanity, it’s normal to increase your calories just to maintain as you may experience quick fat loss in a specific time during your 60 days.

Each of Insanity’s 5 Meals per day in the Nutrition Guide comes with 10 options you can choose from. They recommend you choose one meal of the 10 for each meal. But first, you must calculate your daily calorie needs.

To do this, simply use this equation:

  • Step 1

For Women…655 + (4.35 weight in lbs) + 4.7 x height in inches) – (4.7 x age in years)

For Men…66 + (6.23 x weight in lbs) + (12.7 x height in inches) – (6.8 x age in years)

  • Step 2

Take this number and multiply it by your appropriate level of exercise below. Because this is for the intense Insanity Workout, your level should be at least moderately-very active.

Exercise Factor Category Explanation
1.2  Sedentary  Little or No exercise
1.375  Lightly Active  Light Exercise (1-3 days/wk)
1.55  Moderately Active  Moderate Exercise (3-5 days/wk)
1.7  Very Active  Hard Exercise (6-7 days/wk)
1.9  Extremely Active  Hard Daily Exercise + a Physical Job

This number is what you need for weight maintenance. Because people have different goals, they should be adjusted accordingly like this…

  • Step 3

Adjust as your body changes and keep the following in mind…

For Weight gain: add 250 – 300 calories per day from you number in step 2
For Weight loss: subtract 500 calories per day from your number in step 2
To maintain: Leave Step 2 number as is.

Recommended Meals In the Insanity Elite Nutrition Plan

Once again for copyright reasons, I can’t give out the full recipes and details. What I could do is give you a clear and brief example of what they have in the booklet.

Meal 1, or breakfast:

I usually drink a shakeology. If I ever eat breakfast whole foods instead of a shakeology first thing in the morning,
it is usually things like:

Cottage Cheese (1% milk fat)
Fruit
Oatmeal
Whole Wheat Bagels
Egg Whites
Reduced fat cheese
Whole Grain Cereal like Kashi GoLean
All Natural Peanut Butter
Strawberry Preserve

For Meal 2 or Mid Morning Snack, I’ll drink my shakeology or:

Non Fat Plain Yogurt
1% cottage Cheese
Protein Shake
Turkey Breast Sandwich on whole grain bread
Fruits like Bananas, melon, berries
Turkey Bacon

Meal 3, you can have such things as:

Mixed dark greens
Chicken Breast
Tuna Steak
Avocado
Lean Roast Beef
Extra Lean Ground Beef
Salmon
Green Beans
Whole grain Tortillas

You can make sandwiches and soups that are amazingly tasty with things like black beans, turkey breasts, avocado,ect.

Meal 4:

Brown rice
Water Packed Tuna
Celery
tomatoes
Cottage Cheese
Whole grain Bread
Whole grain Crackers
Turkey Lettucve Wraps
Turkey Chili
Shrimp Cocktail
Lean roast Beef Wraps with avocado

Meal 5:

Cod
Olive Oil
Carrots
Cauliflower
Spinach
Whole Wheat Bread
Asparagus
Flank Steak
Filet Mignon
Sirloin
Baked Potato
Broccoli
Brown rice
Lean Turkey Burger
Mushrooms
Snow Peas

Remember that you can have as much spices like pepper, paprika, garlic as you want. However, sugars like juices, sodas and such are not recommended.

If you must drink alcohol, then remember that it has 7 calories per gram with no nutrient value. It will also effect performance and slow your process of muscle growth. If you or someone you know is struggling with alcohol-related issues, seeking affordable alcohol treatment in NJ could be a crucial step towards regaining control and living a healthier life.

There are time when you need to add in foods to reach your recommended calrories for a specific meal. One way I do it is to eat a banana. There are what is called food blocks, or individual items to help meet your calorie needs.

These are foods such as:
Cottage cheese
Apple
Raw Almonds
Navel Orange
Non fat vanilla yogurt
water packed tuna
Shakeology

In the second month of Insanity, your body will be needing more food to have the energy to finish strong. Remember that if you are reducing your calories to lose weight as mentioned above, you may also be cutting some of your nutrient value with it.

A way to make sure you supply your body with the necessary vitamins and nutrients is to take a multi-vitamin or shakeology.

The Insanity Elite Nutrition Plan also includes Michi’s Ladder which tells you the right proteins, carbs, and fats to eat in tier levels. You can also get this through the Beachbody Club as it’s too much info to include here.

Best Weight Loss Shakes For Your Fitness Goals

Weight loss shakes are a great way to supplement meals and get your nutrition for the day. Many of them include ingredients that can help you curb cravings, improve digestion, and gain energy on top of losing weight.

The best way to lose weight is proper nutrition with exercise. When you can’t eat a whole food meal, or maybe you need something quick on the go, weight loss shakes can be a convenience to make sure you don’t skip a meal or two.

Many of them are low calorie with abilities to fix up your own recipe for a great tasting shake. Some people like weight loss shakes as-is and don’t add anything to them. Some add water, and some add milk, almond milk, and other liquids to satisfy their taste buds.

It’s important to know that everything you put into your weight loss shakes count against and/for your calories. For example, my weight loss shakes are 140 calories itself. When I add all natural peanut butter, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, and coconut oil, it is a 400 calorie shake.

For me, this is good because I need 2700 calories daily. On the days I put water instead of almond milk, I’ll add in a banana. This adds 100 calories.

If you’re like me, you have a busy agenda and don’t have time to cook 3 meals a day along with your healthy snacks in between. 6 meals is what you should be eating everyday. So one of my meals, preferably breakfast is my shakeology meal replacement, then 1 of my snacks of the day is either a protein shake or a post workout recovery drink.

I take a meal replacement called shakeology to help me with all my nutrients but have used some others in the past as well. I recommend to look closely to the labels of the shakes you buy as not all of them contain all natural healthy ingredients.

In my own honest opinion, I believe that any supplement you take should be beneficial to your body without jeopardizing other parts of your health. In other words, I don’t believe in taking weight loss shakes that have artificial sweeteners which can store toxic waste in your liver.

Most weight loss shakes contain too much sugar and artificial ingredients.

This is why I drink Shakeology

It’s an all natural meal replacement and nothing compares to it label to label. If you do find something that’s better, please let me know and be ready to prove it label to label.

Sneak Peak – Popular Weight Loss Shakes:

Jillian Michaels Ultimate Shake – Convenient shake that is ready to drink. Contains fiber and no artificial sweeteners. Soy and gluten free. Not proven to crave hunger that much and also not proven for long term weight loss. No exercise plan comes with the shake but I love Jillian Michaels and what she does for the industry.

Advocare Trim– Very high in protein at 24g per serving. This product contains artificial ingredients. Only hunger filler is fiber in the shake and according to their site, the main ingredients are Protein, calcium, fiber, iron, magnesium, vitamin D, zinc, vitamin A, potassium, riboflavin, vitamin C, vitamin B-12. All ingredients can be found in most great shakes so the main ingredients is nothing special. This shake contains an artificial sweetener in sucralose. Contains caffeine.

Equate – Contains artificial ingredients such as sodium caseinate and other artificial flavors according to it’s label. Sodium Caseinate is a modified protein extraced from milk used for thickening and whitening. Lastly, this contains free glutamic acid, which is a form of MSG, or monosodium glutamate. Enough said.

IdealShape – One of many respected weight loss shakes out there at only 100 calories, 2g of sugar, and over 50% of the recommended vitamins and minerals. However, it also has artificial ingredients and sucralose which kills the rest of the great aspects of this shake for me.

Slim Fast – One of the most popular weight loss shakes out there and longest running brands. Why? I have no clue. Although I know that this has been a savior to many people, but losing weight isn’t everything. It’s being in the best health possible doing it. Not saying that Slim Fast isn’t healthy, but it does contain some of the same ingredients they use to make a product called K-Y Jelly in Cellulose Gel. Learn more about slim fast ingredients.

Ensure – Packed with good vitamins but has a small amount of protein at 9g. Unfortunately this shake contains 18g of sugar. Only 1g of fiber so I don’t see this shake being a huge factor in craving your hunger. This shake also has one of the highest amounts of calories of weight loss shakes on the market at 250 calories.

I could go on and on, but honestly, I’ll just be saying the same thing over and over for most of them. That is, many are great tasting, good things about it, but contain either too much sugar, too many calories, and contain artificial ingredients.

All of these shakes are for weight loss. You can see that most weight loss shakes focus primarily on JUST weight loss and leave the most important thing out, which is being all natural and safest to the body. Living a healthy lifestyle and putting things in your body that hasn’t been modified, chemically treated, or enhanced in any way.

Why pack on high amounts of calories, sugar, and artificial flavoring  just to lose weight?

Obviously, you’ll end up losing out somewhere else.

What Do The PLU Codes On Fruits & Vegetables Mean?

Ever wonder what the 4 and 5 digit plu codes on the fruits and vegetables in your local grocery store mean? If you’re like most people, including me, I used to just pick out my fruit according to type, color, and less discoloration or bruises.

It turns out that the numbers actually make a huge difference in where the fruit came from and how it was grown. These stickers are put on the fruits so that the it makes it easier for the store workers to determine each variety of produce.

What is The Difference With The PLU Sticker Codes

The difference will determine what price each item is as well. Organic produce will be pricier than genetically modified items.

The differences the stickers reveal are:

  • Conventionally grown
  • Genetically engineered
  • Organically grown

Most items in regular grocery market include foods that are GMO’d or genetically modified.

What The PLU Codes Mean On the Fruits & Vegetables

  • Conventionally grown means that the fruit was grown with fertilizers, pesticides, antibiotics, and hormones to allow fruit to grown even in the off season, have greater resistance to last longer, and grows to a bigger size in most cases.

  • Genetically Engineered means the genes were manipulated to help the larger size and color of the produce. Also means that it may have been chemically treated

Genetically engineered sticker code: 5 digits that start with an “8” (ie: 84125)

  • Organically grown means that it wasn’t treated with any chemicals. The best kind but the most priciest.

Organically grown sticker code: 5 digits that start with a “9” (ie: 94125)

These stickers have been used since 1990.

If you think about this, there are about 7 billion people in the world today. People need to eat to stay alive so they grow food using chemicals to grow year round, bigger, and faster. With the population growing so fast, it also takes up the land that could be needed in the future to grow more food for the demand.

If food production will need to grow by 50% within the next two decades according to some experts, than how is this possible with the shrinking amounts of land available to grow food because of the growth of the population?
